Apps to save places from Instagram and TikTok, compared
The short answer: Google Maps lists are what most people already use, Stasht and Mapstr pin places from a shared reel onto a map, Plotline turns reels into a trip plan, Beli and Corner are for restaurants you rate with friends, and Recalo is the one that turns what you save into a trip plan with notes and to-dos you keep up to date together, and also saves places from Google's AI Mode, ChatGPT and Claude.
Pick by what you need
You save places from reels, AI answers and everywhere else: Recalo
Choose it for: One share button for a café on TikTok, a Google Maps link a friend sent, or Google's AI Mode answer on the best tapas in Madrid (see how). Turn your saves into a trip plan that Recalo keeps up to date as plans change, with checklists for bookings, packing and to-dos. Skip it if: You want every save pinned on one map. Each place opens in Apple or Google Maps instead. Also skip it if you want unlimited free saves: saving uses AI, so regular use needs Pro. Sharing from other apps works in the iPhone and iPad app; on Android, use the web app.
You want reels turned into pins, free: Stasht
Choose it for: It reads the caption, on-screen text and speech in a video, pins the place on your map and alerts you when you're nearby. Also saves recipes, products and events.
Skip it if: Your iPhone isn't on iOS 26. The App Store listing requires it. Your saves stay a list of places: no trip notes or to-do checklists listed.
You're planning a specific trip: Plotline
Choose it for: A "top 5 cafés" reel becomes five pins, then a day-by-day plan with routes. Collections you edit with friends in real time.
Skip it if: You're on Android, or plan more than one trip on the free tier. Further trip plans need Premiere. It doesn't list to-do or packing checklists.
You want one map you keep for years: Mapstr
Choose it for: The veteran here. Share a reel to it and pick the places it finds. Tags, colours, shared maps for up to 20 people, and apps for iPhone, Android and the web.
Skip it if: You'll save more than 300 places and don't want to pay. Past that needs Mapstr Plus. Your saves stay a list of places: no trip notes or to-do checklists listed.
You rank restaurants with friends: Beli or Corner
Choose them for: Beli ranks every restaurant you try against the others and shows friends' picks. Corner is a free map of places you and your friends review, and turns shared links into pins.
Skip them if: You save more than restaurants and spots. Corner is also iPhone only, and Beli's own site doesn't list saving from Instagram or TikTok. Neither lists trip plans or to-dos.
You don't want another app: Google Maps lists
Choose it for: Free, already on your phone, with lists you share. On iPhone, Screenshot to save finds place names in your screenshots.
Skip it if: You want to share a reel straight in. You search for each place by hand, or screenshot it. Your saves stay a list of places: no trip notes or to-do checklists listed.

What Instagram and TikTok already do
Both let you bookmark a post and sort your saves into collections, and TikTok's shared collections let two friends save to the same one. You keep the video, not the place: finding the address later still means rewatching it. Instagram's map shows places friends and creators have tagged, not a list of your own saves.

How we checked
We make Recalo. We gave every app the same treatment and name where others do better. Recalo has no map of all your saves, and every other app here does.
